FAQ
What is TrueRoot7?
A clean, seven-ingredient botanical hair and scalp oil — organic carrier oils, pure essential oils, and natural vitamin E, with no fillers or synthetic additives. It's made by hand in small batches in Groveport, Ohio.
How do I use it?
Shake well before each use. Apply about 1 mL to your scalp, massage in with your fingertips, and go about your day. Use it daily. We recommend a patch test before your first use.
How long does a bottle last?
Each 2 fl oz (59 mL) bottle is about a two-month supply at roughly 1 mL a day — which is why the subscription is set to arrive every two months.
Can I leave it in, or do I rinse it out?
It's light enough to leave in, which is how most people use it. If you prefer, you can apply it before a shower and wash it out — either works.
Why does the oil separate or look thicker near the bottom?
Because there's nothing in it to stop that. Castor is a dense oil and will settle over time, and we don't add synthetic stabilizers to mask it. A good shake before each use blends it right back together. It's a sign of what's not in the bottle, not a defect.
Is it greasy? What does it feel like?
It's lightweight and absorbs quickly, with a cool, fresh finish from real peppermint. A little goes a long way.
What does it smell like?
The scent comes entirely from the botanicals — herbaceous rosemary, cool peppermint, and warm cedarwood. There's no synthetic fragrance added.
What hair and scalp types is it for?
It's a botanical hair and scalp oil suitable for all hair types. As with any new product, patch test before first use.
Is it organic?
The three carrier oils (jojoba, castor, pumpkin seed) are USDA Certified Organic under Velona certificate #9950012848, which you can verify in the USDA's public database. The essential oils are 100% pure and steam-distilled, and the vitamin E is organic.
Is it vegan and cruelty-free?
Yes. Every ingredient is plant-based, and nothing is tested on animals.
Where and how is it made?
Mixed, bottled, and shipped by the founder, by hand, in small batches in Groveport, Ohio.
How does the subscription work?
Choose the subscription at checkout and a fresh bottle ships every two months for $22 instead of $25 — the same rhythm as a bottle lasts. You can skip, pause, or cancel anytime.
How fast do you ship?
Free shipping to the lower 48 states. In-stock orders ship within 2 business days — most go out the next day. You'll get tracking as soon as it's on its way. Orders ship via USPS. We don't currently ship to Alaska, Hawaii, or internationally. (Business days are Monday–Friday, excluding holidays.)
What if you're out of stock?
Because we mix in small batches to keep every bottle fresh, we occasionally sell out. If your order is on backorder, we'll email you right away and ship it within 2 weeks — usually much sooner. We'd rather make it fresh than keep it sitting on a shelf.
What's your return policy?
If you're not satisfied with your first bottle, send it back within 90 days for a full refund. Shipping & Returns
